Halifax launches Pixels for Pistols Gun Amnesty Program

The HRM Public Safety Office today launched Pixels for Pistols, an innovative gun amnesty program that will run from November 2-30. Through a community safety partnership between police and Henry’s Camera, every citizen who turns over a functional firearm to police will receive a Sony digital camera and a Henry’s School of Imaging Gift Card for helping to keep our city safe. Three people arrested in two separate traffic stops

Three people were arrested and charged in two separate traffic stops by police in the Fairview area of Halifax on Thursday. The first stop took place just before 3:30 p.m. on Central Avenue. The driver, a 38-year-old Halifax man, was arrested and charged with driving while prohibited. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court in December. Man struck in face and robbed in Halifax

A 21-year-old man was struck him in the face and robbed of his wallet in Halifax Thursday evening. At about 7:15 p.m., the man was walking from Joseph Howe Drive to Chisholm Avenue across the rail cutting when he was approached by another man who told him he was trespassing and demanded identification. When the victim pulled out his wallet, the suspect struck him in the face and stole his wallet. The victim received minor injuries that did not require treatment. The suspect is Read more…

RCMP seize 250 grams of crack, two women arrested
